Rolling Dice

Updated July 2026

The Dice screen is a general-purpose dice tray. Pick how many of each die type you want to roll, tap Roll, and see each result.

How to roll

  1. Tap the Dice tab at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Tap any die tile to add it to your roll. Each tap adds one die — tap d20 three times to roll 3d20. A tile with dice loaded shows its count and lights up with a coloured border.
  3. The summary bar above the tray shows what you're about to roll (e.g. "2d4 + 1d20").
  4. Tap Roll.
  5. Your results appear grouped by die type, with a total beneath.

Dice available

The tray holds six standard die types, left to right:

d4 · d6 · d8 · d10 · d12 · d20

You can roll up to 9 of any single type in one throw.

Removing dice

Tap the control below a tile to remove one die of that type. The control is dimmed when the count is already 0.

To start over, tap Clear — it appears in the summary bar as soon as any dice are selected, and resets all counts at once.

Reading the results

After rolling, the result panel shows:

  • Die groups — results for each die type you rolled (e.g. "d4: 3, 1" and "d20: 14")
  • Total — the sum of every die rolled, shown large in amber

Roll again with the same selection by tapping Roll again, or adjust your tray first.

Roll history

Your last 10 rolls are listed below the result panel, newest first. Each entry shows the dice rolled, the time, and the total. History is for this session only — it clears when you close the app.

A note on Open Legend attribute rolls

Standard tray rolls are straightforward: each die rolls once and the results are added up. They don't use the Open Legend exploding dice mechanic.

For Open Legend action rolls — where you roll 1d20 + your attribute dice, with all dice exploding on their maximum face — open your character sheet and tap the attribute you're rolling. The attribute roll panel handles explosions, advantage, and disadvantage automatically.

Build your roll fast — tap a tile repeatedly to stack dice of the same type. Tap d6 five times for 5d6.
Clear resets everything — if you want to adjust a single die type, use the control instead.
Session history only — your roll history is local to your current session. For a record of rolls, note them in your campaign notes.
